Workshop Details

2 Days - Feb 24-25 (FRIDAY-Sat)

2 Days - Sept 16 & 17

Join Alisha for this hands on portrait class. This workshop focuses on creating timeless black and white images with impact, creativity, technical excellence, and story telling. Day 1 starts with creating lighting with character and story telling with your subject. I'll show how I do it and explain why. Then you will have several opportunities to set up your lighting patterns - it's one thing for me to set it up, but this is about you learning how-to so you can do it in your own studio! Day 2 we'll shoot a little more, each lunch then go through editing in NIK software.

Lunch provided both days

Bring to class:

Your camera, lenses, and note taking materials. Wear comfy clothes.

Rules and such...

Registration for the workshop is considered complete upon receiving the funds paid in full.

Registrations are transferable between people if needed - please write me a short email with their name, phone number, email address, and physical address so I can contact them.

In the event that you become sick, please do not attend class. We will work together to either do a private weekend workshop or move you to another pre-planned date.

Masks and C19 vaccines are optional and it's a judgement free zone. Please note, I do not wear one but am vaccinated. On occasion, I do have a couple of models that work on Netflix shows and they are required to follow their mandates to work on other sets outside of the network. Mainly, this has been where the class and I are masked and they are not when they are on set. Please be respectful.

In the event that I am sick or cannot efficiently teach the weekend a make up date will be scheduled.

Workshops do take place rain or shine - my studio is in our garage, we spread out into the kitchen and living room too.

Feel free to bring snack and drinks. We'll provide a lunch spread for each class - normally platters from Costco. If you have food allergies please let me know. I have them and understand it is no fun to be left out. I don't want that for anyone and will do what I can to include you!

I do have my service dog in the studio, Duncan. He's a big 100lb lab - some people don't like dogs and that's why I mention him here, to give a heads up. He is not put up during class. In the pet classes, he is one of the models.

Fun is required. Shoes are optional...

Overall the weekends are relaxed and fun. I have a soft schedule we go by, but overall I want to share what I know with you. If there's something that you or someone needs to do a little extra work to get, time is spent to do it. Class sizes are small, I try to cut off around 7-8 attendees so everyone has a change to participate as much as they can. Please be considerate that not everyone is at the same level. I do my best to get everyone there at their pace. "Looks" and comments will not be tolerated in my studio. I talk while showing examples, have visual aid charts and you shoot a lot too.

You're Registered!!

Thank you for registering for "The Art of Black and White". I'm looking forward to sharing what I know, seeing light bulbs go off, and having fun! If you have any questions between now and your class, please text me at 678-308-7141.

You'll be coming to:

219 Oakridge Dr. Se.
Cartersville, Ga 30121

If you need a hotel I suggest the Hilton Garden: Cartersville.

24 Liberty Dr,
Cartersville, GA 30121
(770) 382-9787

They are 1 exit from my house off of I75, Exit 288 (we're off of exit 290), and one of the better hotels in the local area. There's also a lot of shopping centers very close if you need anything.

Please remember to pack your camera, lenses, laptop if you want (esp. for editing parts for the Black and White class) and dress comfortably. We're not stuffy around here, I probably won't even have shoes on.

Thanks!
